This mixtape consists of about 14 originals, depending on where you want to divide up the songs. The songs mostly consist of samples from my record collection but I’ve also included contributions from my musical friends from Brisbane such as Jordan Rakei, Laneous, Tiana Khasi & Sam M & Jessi D from Ultrafantastics. I played a few instruments myself (thanks for letting me borrow your vibraphone Laneous) & sung a tiny little.
So It’s a group of songs, but also flows like a mix mostly. The middle track with Tiana singing is a preview of ‘Thicker Than Water’ which is on my EP ‘Natural Selections’ coming out on Soul Has No Tempo. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting It together.

After taking a break from his renowned AV shows, and keeping original releases close to his chest since his debut album in 2012, Soul Has No Tempo proudly present Natural Selections , the breathtakingly refreshing second EP from prominent producer, Sampology.
The relentlessly innovative Brisbane native releases his best and most personal work to-date. As a torchbearer for collaborative inspiration, Sampology’s passion for extracting and supporting emerging talent from the depths of Brisbane’s evolving Soul/Electronic scene shines with Natural Selections, with collaboration being the pinnacle of the EP.
Exposing a previously untapped side of his vast musical sphere, Natural Selections is an exquisite 6-track EP that delves into Sampology’s afro-percussive and organic influences which he has masterfully produced and laced with lush, live elements throughout. The producer is at the core of the live instrumentation on Natural Selections, playing keys, Kalimba, live percussion, Rhodes and drum programming – a highlight being the engagement of renowned composer and conductor, Gordon Hamilton, arranging strings on lead single “Thicker Than Water”.
Sampology has called on a number of Brisbane artists/friends that represent a new wave in soulful electronic music to lend their talents, with the producers own family also collaborating on the music and art. Featuring artists like Hiatus Kaiyote cover artist Laneous, NZ-born/Berlin-based (via Brisbane) artist Noah Slee as well as his own family laying the building blocks of Natural Selections. His father Ken Poggioli playing upright bass, his aunt Helen Poggioli playing viola and his mother Sue Poggioli creating the artwork and visuals that will feature throughout his new live show, it is a true labour of love.
Splendour In The Grass asked me to bring back my Bollywood theme audio visual show for SITG 2016. I dug out all my indian albums & soundtracks plus a couple of drum machines to make some fresh edits and remixes specifically for the show.
This special one off performance April 30 was a collaboration between the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Sampology & Gordon Hamilton. The musical selections were adaptions from tracks from upcoming EP ‘Natural Selections’ as well as brand new collaborations between Gordon & Sam.
The performance was part of the 2016 ‘QSO Currents’ program at the beautiful Brisbane Powerhouse venue.
Excited to be bringing the new live show to the US for a handful of shows both on the West & East coast, I’ll be touring that new live show featuring pretty much all original music + some remixes in early 2015.
When I get back from the US I’ll be going straight into my next AV tour to support my current single ‘Shine A Light’ around AUS/NZ + some dates in Asia as well. Looking forward to seeing all my friends and supporters for all of these shows and playing a bunch of new music!
